Privacy Policy
Last updated October 7, 2026
TutorBreak is an AI tutor for students. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. We wrote it to be read, so we keep it plain.
Who we are
TutorBreak ("we", "us") runs the TutorBreak website and apps. If you have a question about this policy or about your information, write to hello@tutorbreak.com.
What we collect
- Your account: your name and email address, which come from the sign-in service you choose. If you sign in with Apple and hide your email, we only see the private address Apple gives us.
- What you do in TutorBreak: the messages you type, what you say when you talk to a tutor (as text), the answers and drawings you submit, and the lessons, whiteboards, stories, guided activities and practice rounds that are made for you.
- Your progress: how you do on practice and guided activities, so TutorBreak can suggest what to work on next and show you your own progress.
- Files you upload: TutorBreak reads the file and keeps the text it found, a short summary and key ideas for 90 days so the tutor can use them in your lessons. We do not keep the original file. For a picture, we keep a written description of it, not the picture.
- Your choices: the date you agreed to share what you type, say, draw and upload with AI services, and which version of that text you agreed to.
- Basic technical information: a sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in, and the ordinary records every website server keeps (such as the time of a request and any error).
Voice
When you talk to a tutor, your voice is sent live to speech services that turn it into text and speak the tutor's replies. TutorBreak does not make or keep recordings of your voice. The text of what was said becomes part of your conversation, like anything you type.
How we use your information
We do not sell your personal information and we do not show advertising. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
- To run TutorBreak for you: to write the tutor's replies, check your answers, make activities, stories and pictures, and remember your conversations so you can come back to them.
- To show you your own progress and suggest what to try next.
- To keep TutorBreak working and safe: fixing errors, preventing abuse, and following the law.
What these providers do with it
These providers process what we send to give us a result, such as a reply or a transcript. Each has its own rules about how long it keeps information for running and securing its service, and we do not control those rules. We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect people's safety, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of TutorBreak, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.
How long we keep it
- Your account, conversations, progress and other content stay until you delete them or delete your account.
- The text, summary and key ideas of an uploaded file are kept for 90 days, or until you remove the file or delete your account, whichever comes first.
- When you delete your account, your sign-in, profile, conversations, messages, whiteboards, uploaded-file text, progress, practice rounds and saved searches are deleted immediately and cannot be recovered. Short-lived backups kept by our hosting providers may still hold some of it until they expire.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account at any time from Account in the app or on the website. If you cannot sign in, email us from the address on your account.
- Withdraw your agreement to share what you type, say, draw and upload with AI services at any time from Account. TutorBreak then stops sending anything and asks again before you use it.
- Delete a file you uploaded from your files.
- Ask to see, correct or delete your information, or ask a question about it, by writing to hello@tutorbreak.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws, and we will honour them.
Children and parents
TutorBreak is made for learners, and many are children. An account belongs to a person who is 18 or older, or to a parent or legal guardian who sets it up for a learner and agrees on the learner's behalf. We do not knowingly collect a child's information without a parent's or guardian's agreement. If you believe a child has used TutorBreak without that agreement, email us and we will delete the account.
Parents and guardians can review and delete a learner's information, and withdraw the AI-sharing agreement, from Account, or by writing to us.
Keeping your information safe
Information travels over encrypted connections and is stored with access limited to people and systems that need it. No online service can promise perfect security, so please tell us at once if you think your account has been misused.
Where your information is processed
Our providers may process information in the United States and in other countries, which may have different privacy laws from where you live.
Payments
Paid plans are not available yet. When they are, the store or payment service you pay through handles your payment details; we receive confirmation of your plan, never your card number.
Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or who we share it with in a way that matters to you, we will update this page and, where the law or good practice calls for it, ask you to agree again before TutorBreak uses your information in the new way. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
